Instinctools’ product design team developed the visual strategy for a Web3 platform set to become a private alternative to Google Workspace and Microsoft 365. After the MVP launch, the startup raised $1.5 million for product development.

Fileverse is a British Web3 startup developing and bringing to market a Fileverse Portal: a blockchain-based space for collaborative work on documents (dDocs) and spreadsheets (dSheets). Its main difference from mainstream centralized platforms is that Fileverse does not control data storage or access to it, storing data locally and in a decentralized network with end-to-end encryption. This allows users to remain the exclusive owners of their data.

Our team was responsible for the design strategy within the client’s development team. The work began with a design system: unified principles and a library of reusable components that gave the product a consistent style. This helped to streamline and accelerate collaboration on all subsequent design tasks.

The project had a feature unusual for designers: due to end-to-end encryption, the platform does not store user data, so familiar analytics tools like Google Analytics or Hotjar, whose data could be used to improve the interfaces, were unavailable to us. We made all changes after analyzing direct user feedback, which helped us find friction points and address them in dDocs and dSheets. Among them:

  • Sign-in with an ENS name linked to a blockchain wallet;
  • Real-time collaborative editing. Up to 15 people can work on the same document simultaneously, comment on it, and suggest edits. And all of this is fast, with no delays;
  • Features for everyday work: a slash menu for quick formatting, collapsible headings, in-document timers, and converting a document into a presentation in one click.
  • Connecting local LLMs like Ollama. GenAI features run on the user’s device, without transferring data to external servers.

The launch of such a feature-rich MVP helped Fileverse raise $1.5 million in investment and build a user community that shares feedback with the team for product development.

Instinctools has been a valuable partner for Fileverse by helping us maintain our pace without cutting corners on quality of the product and the UX/UI. With the help of their product designers and QA engineers, we increased the quality of our zero-knowledge (ZK), e2ee (end-to-end encrypted), and self-sovereign, products.

What made them a great partner was their capacity to proactively find the right fit and solutions based on the particularities of our needs.

Instinctools will make your objectives their sole focus, and have a team of professionals that will abstract away all the operational parts of the partnership to allow you to focus on your business.
